In a surprising turn of events, the Cleveland Browns have announced that Shedeur Sanders will be the starting quarterback for their upcoming game against the New Orleans Saints, even though Deshaun Watson has been medically cleared from concussion protocol ¹²³⁴. This decision comes after Watson sustained a head injury during the team’s previous game against the Pittsburgh Steelers ¹⁵⁶, which led to him being listed as questionable for the upcoming match ¹²³⁴.

The Browns’ game against the Saints is set for 1 p.m., and both teams are looking to secure crucial wins in their respective seasons. The Browns currently hold a record of 5-3, while the Saints are struggling with a 2-5 record ³⁵⁶.

Despite his recent clearance, Watson’s status remains uncertain due to the lingering effects of his head injury. In the meantime, Sanders, who has only attempted three passes this season, will get his chance to shine on the field ³. During the Steelers game, he managed to complete two passes for 2 yards ⁵⁶, showcasing some early promise.

The Browns’ decision to start Sanders highlights the importance of player health and readiness over pure statistical performance. With Watson’s status up in the air, the team appears to be taking a cautious approach, ensuring that their star quarterback is fully recovered before returning to action.
