Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has signed a landmark agreement with Gujarat Energy, aiming to enhance its global natural gas business.

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has taken another significant step towards expanding its global footprint in the natural gas market, sealing a major liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply deal with Gujarat Energy in India. Under this agreement, XRG, ADNOC’s investment arm, will provide 4 million metric tons of LNG annually to Gujarat Energy starting from 2028 123.
This latest agreement is part of ADNOC’s broader strategy to strengthen its position in the international energy sector. In November 2024, ADNOC established XRG as a platform to expand the United Arab Emirates’ presence in global chemical, low-carbon energy, and natural gas markets. Since then, the company has been actively pursuing partnerships and supply contracts to bolster its market share 2.
The deal with Gujarat Energy is set to run for ten years, aligning with ADNOC’s vision to enhance its LNG marketing and trading activities. In July 2026, ADNOC introduced a unified platform focused on its LNG marketing and trading efforts, with the aim of reaching 47 million metric tons per annum in marketed volumes by 2035. This agreement marks the fifth such deal ADNOC has secured in India, highlighting its growing influence in this important market 23.
ADNOC has also signed several other notable agreements recently. These include deals with INPEX in Japan, Gulf Group in Thailand, and Gujarat Energy in India. Specifically, ADNOC has committed to supplying one million metric tons of LNG annually to INPEX Corp for 15 years, primarily from the upcoming Ruwais LNG project. Additionally, the company has entered into a multi-year agreement to deliver around two million metric tons of LNG to Gulf Development Public Co Ltd, beginning in 2027 2.
Moreover, ADNOC Gas, the company’s gas processing and sales arm, has signed a five-year agreement to supply up to 1.6 million metric tons of LNG to TotalEnergies SE. These agreements demonstrate ADNOC’s dedication to diversifying its customer base and expanding its operational reach in the global LNG market 2.
Looking ahead, ADNOC plans to significantly increase the UAE’s LNG production capacity through the Ruwais LNG project, which is scheduled to begin operations in 2028. This project is designed to produce up to 9.6 million metric tons per annum, effectively doubling the country’s LNG production capabilities 2.
These developments showcase ADNOC’s strategic approach to building a robust and diverse portfolio of LNG supply agreements, positioning the company as a key player in the global energy landscape.
